Adventure & Nature |

Orinoco River - Vichada

The Orinoquía Region has a lot to offer when it comes to nature and adventure. It’s not only rain forest and jungle we talk about. Ancient rock formations, former parts of the ‘Escudo Guayanés’ (Guiana shield), savannas, and some of the main jungle rivers of South America. A huge diversity of flora and fauna, and of course the many birds which makes Colombia famous. Adventure activities like jungle expeditions, kayaking, hiking, or climbing Rock Mountains. Due to the huge diversity of flora and fauna, and the openness of many remote areas, it’s also known as one of the best spot to spot fauna. When you like nature and adventure, this region definitely can bring you to other levels.

Casanare

A vast savannah with muddy rivers where cowboys, called llaneros here, gather their huge herds of cows on horseback, where at dusk the llaneros themselves sing for you playing the harp, and where a great deal of wildlife lives on the plains; from alligators to jaguars. A visit to the Llanos Orientales in eastern Colombia is an unforgettable experience. Immerse yourself in the traditional lifestyle of the llaneros, watch howler monkeys, capybaras and crocodiles on a savannah safari and marvel at the sunset and starry sky of Los Llanos, far away from civilization.

Vichada

The department of Vichada limits with Venezuela, and partly with the Orinoco River. Besides lot of jungle and rivers, it also houses the National park of Tuparro, and other nature reserves. It’s a very good option if you like adventure and nature, and you should visit it twice; once in the rain season, and once in dry season.

Serrania la Macarena

The Serranía de la Macarena is another highlight for adventure and nature. Mostly known because of Caño Cristales, but there is a many more to do and explore. Places similar to Caño Cristales, other wonderful and hidden waterfalls, and pristine jungle are just some examples we can offer here.
