Packages to the beautiful ecolodge located at the little fishing village El Valle. The complex counts 12 independent cabins, all with two rooms, private shower and a terrace surround by original vegetation of the area. The water at the lodge comes from a natural source in the area, on the location they also created a butterfly garden where you can find many colorful butterflies in their natural habitat. The ecolodge is located between the dense rainforest and the beach of Almejal, which beach is over 2 km long.

The region offers enormous nature diversity, stunning pictures of crystal clear rivers, waterfalls, beautiful sunsets, virgin beaches and the El Valle river that goes through the local settlements. Besides all the above the area is also a migration area for many bird species, sea turtles and the whales that passes in front of the coast in the months July to October. The location is also ideal for sport fishing as the area is also a migration are for anchovies, big schools of fish and that attracts the bigger predators wanted for sport fishing.

At a distance of only 35 minutes by boat or 2 hours walk lies the National Park Ensenada de Utria. This park is the habitat for several ecosystems like mangrove swamps, coral reefs, rainforest and ocean.

Many sea turtles are endangered with extinction. The Olive Ridley turtle lays her eggs close to the beaches of the ecolodge. Due to the hunt on these eggs by humans and animals the ecolodge decided in 1994 to start a project to protect these turtles and their eggs. Until today they have managed to liberate thousands of turtles safely in the sea. This has become quite a touristic happening, it starts in September and continues to the beginning of January.

Important: To visit Bahia Solano you are obligated to have a yellow fever vaccination. The area is also one of the rainiest areas in the world, so wrap your luggage in plastic bags in your backpack or suitcase. Pack cloths for a warm and humid climate and travel as light as possible. On the flights (no overland transport possible) to Bahia Solano there is a luggage maximum of 10 kilo per person. We would recommend you to travel with a backpack, (big) suitcases are not recommendable. We also advise you to bring a flash light, as El Almejal is an ecolodge and has only electricity for a limited amount of hours per day.

DE UNA offers packages to the ecolodge El Almejal starting with 4 days /3 nights. From Buenaventura it is possible to travel per boat over sea to Bahia Solano/El Valle but that is a difficult and tricky way to get there. On request everything is possible but overall we offer these packages with national flights for the obvious reasons. If you want to book one of these packages please keep in mind what day you want to go there and how long you want to stay as the flights to Bahia Solano don´t go every day. Plan your stay well, especially if you are flying with a connection through Medellin and/or Quibdo.
