National Park Cocuy

In this mountain area there are more than 20 snowy peaks from 4900m to 5322m. If you like to hike or walk in the mountains than this is the THE place to visit in Colombia. Amazing landscapes with deep impressive valleys, crystal clear mountain lakes, glaciers with ice caves and this all together with the famous and rare paramo plant the Frailejon, which can only be found in Colombia, in the west of Venezuela and Ecuador.

We offer programs of different lengths and difficulty levels. Besides the 3 mentioned options on this page we can also offer custom made programs including different walking routes or climbing different peaks like the Ritacuba Blanco (the highest peak in the park). We know the area very well and besides that we have very good local guides that can assist you in the National Park Cocuy.

During the here mentioned options we assume that every participant carries his own luggage. It is possible that on some routes the luggage can be carried by horses, this is optional and needs to be arranged beforehand.

For the trekking in National Park Cocuy a very good physical condition is required and it is recommendable to have some experience with mountain trekking/climbing. Food and beverages are not included but it is possible to buy the food needed for the trekking as a group.

Most climbs to the peaks are not really technical and that is why we don´t use a harness or rope. The guide that accompanies the group decides if the circumstances are good enough to climb the top.
