Day 1: Arrival at the El Dorado airport in Bogota and transport to the hotel in the historical center for the first night.
Day 2: At 08:30 the city tour starts with a short walk to the cableway that will bring us to Cerro Monserate (3150m) for an amazing view over the city. When we get back down we will make a walk through the historical center and we will visit Plaza de Bolivar, the Gold and the Botero museum. Free afternoon and second night in Bogota.
Day 3: Day tour to Tobia, which lies approximately +/- 2 to 3 hours from Bogota. This little village has a nice tropical climate and is the base for a number of extreme sports. In Tobia we will go white water rafting on the Rio Negro. At the end of the day we will take the bus to Honda at the Magdalena river where we will stay the night in the center.
Day 4: In the morning we will leave by bus to Manizales (+/- 3-4 hours), it will be a lovely ride through the mountains and valleys of the Andes. Manizales itself is a city in the Zona Cafetera with big height differences, we will stay in a hotel close to Plaza Bolivar in the center.
Day 5: At 06:30 o´clock in the morning we will leave by bus for a day tour to the Nevado del Ruiz, an active volcano of 5300m. During our way up the volcano we will take several breaks to enjoy the surroundings and to get accustomed to the altitude. With the bus we eventually reach an altitude up to 4800m. From here it is possible to reach the snow line together with the guide up to 5100m. On our way back we stop at some hot springs to warm up again before we go back to Manizales for the night.
Day 6: In the morning with the bus to Medellin (+/- 4-5 hours) where we will stay in a hotel in the hectic center close to the Botero square. In the afternoon we will have a city tour in which we will visit various squares and monuments and visit the neighborhood Santa Domingo in the mountains of Medellin with the MetroCable for an excellent view over the city.
Day 7: Bus to Santa Fe de Antioquia (+/- 2 hours) where we have the time to visit the colonial village and visit the ´Puente de Occidente´ a steal hanging bride over the Cauca river by motor taxi. We will spend the night in a hotel with swimming pool at the square.
Day 8: Free morning to walk through the village, in the afternoon back with the bus to Medellin. In the evening we will visit the famous disco mango´s (only in the weekend) and second night in Medellin.
Day 9: Transport to the airport of Medellin in Rio Negro with a direct flight to Santa Marta. From the airport our transport will bring is to Taironaka at the Don Diego river. We will stay at cabañas located at the river in this beautiful area.
Day 10: In the morning the possibility to see the snow topped mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (with clear weather) and to go down the Don Diego river with an inner tube. After lunch we will go to National Park Tayrona where we will arrive at the sector Arrecifes after a walk of approximately 45 minutes. Here we will stay the night in hammocks at the beach.
Day 11: You have the whole day in National Park Tayrona to enjoy the beautiful beaches and the surrounding jungle. We will walk through the jungle, over beaches and we will visit the beaches ‘la Piscina’ and ‘el Cabo de San Juan’. For the real passionate walkers there is the possibility to visit ´Pueblito´ an archeological site of the prior Tayrona civilization. It is a beautiful walk of approximately 3 to 4 hours that will bring you deep into the jungle of the Tayrona park. Later that day back to Arrecifes for our second nights in the hammocks.
Day 12 t/m 16: Walk back to the entrance of the National Park Tayrona. Here we will be picked up to start our 5 day trekking to Ciudad Perdida. An adventurous trekking through the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta where we will need to cross several crystal clear rivers, will encounter Indian communities like Kogi and Arhuacos and will sleep in hammocks in the subtropical jungle. The goal is to reach Ciudad Perdida (the lost city), an archeological site of the Tayrona civilization. During the trekking all meals are inclusive, besides a DE UNA guide a local guide will accompany us and a carrier. For the entire program go to the Ciudad Perdida page.
Day16: This is the last day of the Ciudad Perdida trekking. We will need to walk a bit more today and then we will be picked up by transport that will bring us to Santa Marta. Usually the groups arrives around 17:00 or 18:00 o´clock in Santa Marta. We will stay in a hotel at the beach near the old city of Santa Marta.
Day 17: In the morning we´ll take a bus to Cartagena, a journey of about 5 hours along the Caribbean coast. In Cartagena we will stay in a hotel in the colonial area Getsemani. At the end of the afternoon when the heat diminishes a bit we will take a walk through the historical part of Cartagena and we will visit some important squares and monuments of the city.
Day 18: At 08:00 o’clock we will take a stroll to the tourist harbor, from there we leave for a day to the Nature Park Las Islas Rosarios. We will stay on one of the islands where we will have a typical lunch (included) and the possibility to snorkel. From there we will go to Playa Blanca. On this beautiful white sand beach with palm trees we will stay for the rest of the afternoon until around 16:00 o´clock to go back to Cartagena for our second night in this amazing city.
Day 19: Free day to relax, walk through the city, go to the nearby beaches or buy the last souvenirs. Third night in Cartagena.
Day 20: Transport to airport of Cartagena, end of the tour.

Group or private tour The planned dates are intended for individual subscriptions, these individual subscriptions will form a group. With at least 2 participants a group tour will be confirmed. Besides a group tour it is also possible to book this tour as a private tour, this way you are not bound to the above mentioned travel dates. In this case as well a tour will be confirmed with 2 participants
Vaccinations For vaccinations you are recommended to contact your physician. For areas outside the big cities a vaccination against Yellow Fever is recommendable. For both Park Tayrona and Ciudad Perdida you are obligated to have a Yellow fever vaccination and be able to show you are vaccinated.

The trekking to Ciudad Perdida is quitetough. Therefore it is recommendable to be in good physical shape when you want to participate in this trekking. It is possible to book this tour without visiting Ciudad Perdida. If preferred we can offer a 5 day alternative in the form of a 5 day trip to la Guajira, Taironaka, other posadas ecoturisticas, or a trip to Nabusimaké. Ask us for the possibilities.
The tour will end in Cartagena. Please keep this in mind while booking your international flight. Off course it is possible to leave from a different city (Bogota for example) but then an additional flight needs to be booked.
